The site, under a number of different ownerships, was combined to create a total site area of approximately 6 acres. The site partly fronts the Thames and was occupied by various industrial activities, including car breaking, vehicle salvage, waste transfer and open storage and scrap yards. Planning permission was obtained for comprehensive redevelopment to include 782 residential units and c21,000 sq ft of flexible commercial floorspace, to include some small business workspace, a retail unit, an art showroom including a café, and a gym.
